Dr James O’Flynn
I’m from Ballinascarthy in West Cork and studied medicine at UCC. I began working in general practice in Kinsale when I was training in 2022 and, apart from a year in a general practice in West Cork, I have worked here since. After completing GP training, I spent a year on a fellowship with the Irish College of General Practitioners in long-term preventative care for people at higher risk, focused on women with a history of gestational diabetes. I also hold the Diploma in Obstetrics and Women’s Health (Royal College of Physicians of Ireland) and a Certificate in Palliative Care (Irish College of General Practitioners).
My interest is in preventative care, and in looking after the whole person rather than one problem at a time. I started Maybrook so that I could practise that way: a small number of patients whom I know well, the time they need, and the same doctor from one year to the next.
